| A new exhibition project in Swiss city centres |
The BSI Album project is a series of displays of rare and original art collections in the windows of BSI banks, on view day and night, which 'unfold', like old-fashioned albums, as people walk past. A catalogue of works will also be distributed free at the counters of the BSI banks wishing to take part in the programme.
The BSI Album exhibition project is a natural progression from the individual artwork exhibitions that BSI bank has been holding for years in the windows of selected offices in Switzerland.
Collecting is a growing phenomenon and is a natural and spontaneous human instinct. We tend to want to take possession, physically and above all mentally, of the world that surrounds us, collecting objects according to their importance or probable value in terms of interest, usefulness or merit.
The name given to the project, BSI Album, sums up the concept of collecting and cataloguing. It does not need to be translated into several languages; it is easy to understand and reflects the message we want to convey of discovery, gathering, collecting and sharing.
All the exhibitions are accompanied and completed by an educational and documentary catalogue in three languages, richly illustrated, which covers the history of the themes on display and provides a wide selection of photographs of the works exhibited.
The BSI Album exhibition project is separate from the BSI Art Collection, the well-known collection of avant-garde art owned by BSI bank, but is in keeping with it and complementary in its use of the theme of collection.
The BSI Album project will unfold in four sections:
These sections will alternate three times a year, in approximately January, May and September, at BSI's offices in Lugano, Bellinzona, Chiasso, Locarno, Geneva, Zurich and St. Moritz.
